$100,000 donation from casino rama to the mlse foundation

On Sunday, October 28, 2012,  the Toronto Raptors played a special intra-squad game at Casino Rama’s Entertainment Centre.

They brought a true Raptors game experience up to Rama with the installation of a basketball court, Dance Pak, Raptor, Player introductions, halftime entertainment and more.

This was the last opportunity for fans to catch the Raptors live in action before the start of the regular season.

Tied to this event was a $100,000 donation from Casino Rama to the MLSE Foundation.

These funds will be split and used to support Right to Play programming in Beausoleil First Nation and Henvey Inlet First Nation, programming in Rama First Nations and other programming in the GTA.

Everyone at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend The Honourable Lincoln Alexander. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Marni, his son Keith and their entire family.

Mr. Alexander was a pioneer, trailblazer and a great Canadian. He was a friend of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and a fan of our teams.  He served as the Chairman of the Raptors Foundation for several years and more recently, he served as the Chair Emeritus of the MLSE Foundation.

Through his work with our Foundation and so many others, Mr. Alexander will be remembered for being a champion for children, particularly those who are at-risk.
With all of his successes and accomplishments, his greatest legacy is his public service, serving as a role model and advocate for human rights that paved the way for so many Canadians in their lives today.

All of us at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment feel blessed and honoured to have been among those so privileged to have known and worked with him.

kia, mlse foundation kick off new soccer program

Toronto FC’s First Team and Coaching Staff, along with 200 youth from the KickStart program, were on hand as the MLSE Foundation and Kia Canada Inc. kicked off a new soccer program aimed at kids aged 6 to 12 years on Tuesday.

The event, held at the Kia Training Ground, Toronto FC’s new practice facility, celebrated the announcement of the KickStart program, as well as field enhancements that will take place later this fall at Dentonia soccer pitch at Crescent Town - one of the pitches hosting the program.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, the MLSE Foundation and RONA, in collaboration with the City of Toronto, unveiled the newly refurbished Sunnydale Acres Rink Wednesday.  The refurbished outdoor rink marks the 30th completed project as part of the MLSE Foundation;s Legacy Program.

In celebration of the event, the Toronto Maple Leafs held their practice at the Sunnydale Acres Rink.  Joining them were hundreds of Leafs fans from the community.

The MLSE Foundation (TUF) announced that it will invest $200,000 into the community through its new grant program, the MLSE Team Up Fund.  The Fund will give Ontario charitable organizations the chance to receive one of four $50,000 grants that will support youth sports and recreation programs or assist in the refurbishment of sports/recreational facilities.

The MLSE Foundation, with the help of Toronto Raptors coaching staff, announced Tuesday the locations of three community basketball courts that will be refurbished this season.  Lotherton community outdoor court, Scarborough Village community outdoor court and event host Cabbagetown Youth Centre (CYC) will be improved thanks to the Foundation's legacy program.  These courts represent three of eight sports facilities to benefit from the program that refurbishes hockey rinks, basketball courts and soccer pitches, bringing the total amount of projects to 37 since the launch of the program.

Close to 100 professional athletes and coaches teamed up on Monday for the inaugural One4One, presented by Rogers in support of the Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) Foundation.  The night marked the first time that NHL, NBA, MLS and AHL teams have come together on one night.  Guests had the chance to mingle with the full rosters of the Maple Leafs, Raptors, Toronto FC and Marlies at Real Sports Bar & Grill, with all proceeds benefiting the MLSE Foundation.

Toronto Raptors players and members of the National Wheelchair Basketball Team were on hand Thursday to unveil and celebrate the refurbishment of Variety Village's basketball court by the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) Foundation with support from Rogers Communications. The $120,000 investment toward a new FIBA regulated hardwood centre court will provide the Canadian National and Provincial wheelchair basketball teams a place to train and inspire the Village's grassroots program.
