How We Teamed Up
Since 2002 Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and the newly formed MLSE Team Up Foundation have generously supported the Pathways to Education Program. From its early beginnings in the Regent Park community, and later in three other Toronto communities (Lawrence Heights and Rexdale and Scarborough) the Team Up Foundation has enabled youth to graduate high school and move on to post-secondary programs. Many of these students have completed university and college and gone on to full-time employment in meaningful careers and are beginning to give back to their communities through volunteer work and leadership roles.
About the Organization
Pathways to Education Canada is a community-based charitable organization that is focused on reducing poverty and its effects by lowering the high school drop-out rate and increasing access to postsecondary education among youth in low income communities. The Pathways program provides a comprehensive set of academic, financial and social supports to youth that help them graduate high school and transition successfully to college or university. The results of this unique program have been ground-breaking, reducing high school drop-out rates by over 75 per cent, and increasing the rate at which youth go on to college or university by as much as 400 per cent.
Pathways was developed in 2001by the Regent Park Community Health Centre and is currently serving over 3400 youth in Grades 9 to 12 in eleven communities across Canada.
