Leafs Have a Heart Dinner - Tuesday November 23

On Tuesday, November 23rd, Toronto Maple Leafs players, coaches and management, along with the Lady Leafs, donned aprons and served up food and drinks to over 300 guests at the Toronto Maple Leafs Have a Heart Dinner presented by AM640 at Brassaii Restaurant and Lounge. The dinner gave fans the opportunity to mix and mingle with the entire Leafs team, all in support of the Team Up Foundation.
After Brian Burke thanked guests for their support, the players got down to business, splitting into groups for their evening duties. Whether it was dishing up pasta or poutine, pouring a cranberry juice, passing hors d'oeuvres or selling hard hats, the Leafs used the evening to not only give back to their fans, but help raise money for the team's Foundation. The hard hats were a unique item and were a popular fundraising item that evening. Guests wore them proudly as they moved to each of the players on the team to cover the hard hats with autographs. The hard hats are in support of the Team Up Foundation's legacy program, which refurbishes rinks, courts and pitches. The proceeds from the hard hats sold at the Have a Heart Dinner will go toward the outdoor rink refurbishment at Trinity Bellwoods.
Players not only worked the room as celebrity waiters along with the Lady Leafs, they also supported the silent auction, each donating an item which dinner guests could bid on. Items included an Ipod Touch loaded with Mike Komisarek's favourite music and movies, a Harley Davidson leather jacket donated by Mike Brown, a David Yurman necklace and a 55" inch 3D tv donated by Dion Phaneuf and Elisha Cuthbert and a chance to be a GM for a day with Brian Burke.
Thanks to the entire Toronto Maple Leafs team, the Lady Leafs, event sponsors and guests, the Have a Heart Dinner raised an amazing $200,000 in support of the MLSE Team Up Foundation!
