Leafs practice at newly refurbished Sunnydale Rink - Wednesday January 4
Thousands of Leafs fans braved the chilly winter weather to cheer on their hockey heroes in the Rexdale community on January 4th. The RONA Toronto Maple Leafs Outdoor Practice was held in the community to celebrate the Team Up Foundation’s refurbishment of the Sunnydale Acres Rink. More than $150,000 was invested into the refurbishment of the rink, which included: the replacement of the seasonal/removable dasher board system with portable panel system containing UV protection (which will help preserve the ice in sunny conditions), the restoration of doors and the installation of new sports matting in the main room, change rooms and staff office. Staff from RONA and MLSE also contributed more than 750 volunteer hours towards the refurbishment.
The Team Up Foundation would like to thank the Toronto Maple Leafs players, coaches, management and staff for supporting the rink refurbishment and for bringing their practice to the Sunnydale rink. A big thank you also goes to RONA for their support in the refurbishment of the Sunnydale rink and to the City of Toronto.
