Ten Tips for Hosting a Successful Event
1. Make a Plan
Know what you would like to accomplish with your event so that we can help you achieve the most success possible. It is important that you have a plan in place so your event can be approved.
2. Pick the Right Event
You want to make sure you are having fun when planning and executing your event. Consider your target audience and your interests to make sure everyone will enjoy themselves. If you have an athletic group of friends, a sporting event might be perfect for you. You can also create themes or games that will fit your target group.
3. Schedule Your Event
Be aware of other events or occasions that are happening around the time that you plan your event. Keep things like work schedules, holidays, and weather in mind when you pick the time and date of your event.
4. Form a Team or Group That Can Help You
It is important to have an enthusiastic and motivated group of people that can help you with the planning and execution of your event. Ask this support group for help when you need it!
5. Make a Timeline and Follow it
Depending on the size of your event, there might be a lot of time required to plan it properly. Decide how much time you need to prepare for your event and set timelines for yourself.
6. Make a Budget
Look at your event plan and decide what expenses you will have. Keep in mind venue costs, food and beverage, prizing costs, postage, etc. Writing down your projected expenses can help you see where you may be able to cut some costs, get sponsorships, and look for donations. Also make a note of places you will make money (auctions, ticket sales, etc.).
7. Set Goals
Set realistic goals for your event. Your budget will help you decide what is realistic for your event or fundraiser. Also set goals for things like number of participants, support from your community, etc.
8. Promote
Get your family, friends, and community involved in your event. We can also help you promote your event online to help keep your group connected. Also, use our logo (as long as it has been approved!). People like to help out when they know what the event will be supporting.
9. Make a Tradition
Turn your event into something that can happen annually with your family, friends and/ or community. Add something special to your event so that you have even more support next year, which will in turn help you raise even more money!
10. Say Thank You
It can take a lot of time, effort, and bodies to create a successful event. Make sure you keep those who helped you with the event and those who attended the event updated with its success. Let people know how much money you raised, and be sure to say thank you!
